ENTREPRENEURSHIP INSTRUCTOR

The Entrepreneurship Instructor will develop a series of lectures and lessons that center around the topic of being a professional in the classical music and musical theatre industry. This instructor will work with classroom technology to engage the students in the business aspect of building a career.  

Below are topics that the Entrepreneurship Instructor should be prepared to cover 

Audio & Video Production 

Students will learn how to create polished and professional audio/video recordings to advance their careers. Software programs taught include Garage Band, Canva, Vimeo, YouTube. After 3 weeks of instructional classes on these programs, the Entrepreneurship Instructor will guide students through a performance project of their choice in which they record and edit a performance in both audio and video software. 

Marketing & Self Promotion  

Students will learn essential marketing skills to successfully promote themselves as performing artists. Through these classes, students will learn the importance of building an online presence and how to navigate programs such as Gimp, MailChimp, photo editing, etc. 

Website Creation 

Students will learn how to design, build, and launch effective websites using Squarespace and Wix online platforms without needing to code. Students will learn how to create pages, upload images, and work with assets within Squarespace and Wix, as well as manage site structure and navigation. Each student will create a website for a specific project, which could be a musical site for themselves. 

Key competencies and responsibilities 

  • Must have an understanding of the professional music industry, particularly classical music and musical theatre.  

  • Must be comfortable and able to give clear instruction using the following programs: 

  • MailChimp, Gimp, Squarespace, and Wix. 

  • Must be confident in a classroom of 15+ students.  

  • Classroom management skills.   

Dates 

Must be available and on-site from 10:00 AM – 3 PM Monday - Friday from June 10th – July 26th 

It is recommended, but not required to be available and on-site on July 26th for the final performance.
