By W.A Mozart
One of Mozart’s most beloved works gets a classic retelling, bringing to Miami the music and characters that have captured the hearts of opera lovers the world over. Servants Figaro and his promised Susanna prepare for their upcoming wedding, only to find that his employer the Count has impure intentions for her as well. Fearing that the Count will reinstate the ancient First Night rite to rendezvous with her, Figaro sets about scheming to outsmart him. Meanwhile, the lovely Countess, to whom Susanna is ever faithful, begins to suspect the same and devises her own trap to catch him in his mischief. Immersive The Ghosts of Versailles
By John Corigliano
In The Ghosts of Versailles, the spirits have quite literally returned to the court of Louis XVI—this time in an immersive indoor theater with 360-degree projections that surround the audience in a world of opulence, fantasy, and satire. Marie Antoinette is upset about having been beheaded, so her favorite playwright attempts to entertain her by continuing the adventures of his characters from The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro. This opera-within-an-opera goes awry when Figaro refuses to stick to the script and the playwright must come to the Queen’s rescue and win her affection.
