The Miami Music Festival (MMF) seeks two Assistant Stage Manager Interns to join the team to produce a festival experience focusing on opera productions and a series of symphonic performances. The Stage Manager Interns are key team members, ensuring that our operas are produced and presented at a high professional level. We offer the opportunity to work in some of the highest-profile venues in Miami Beach. Our opera productions take place in the breathtaking Faena Forum and Temple Emanu-el with rehearsals taking place in several additional Miami Beach venues. 

Founded in 2013, MMF is an educational organization and we equally prioritize excellence of our student participants’ experience with the highest possible artistic quality of productions. 

All main stage operas are full productions complete with a professional team of stage directors, designers, costumers and an orchestra. 

In conjunction with the Stage Manager, ASMs assist the coordination of props, scenery, wardrobe, and lighting focus. Additionally, Assistant Stage Managers gain valuable experience cueing performers, assisting in the rehearsal process, and generating processes for the efficient mounting of each production.   

REQUIREMENTS:     

  • 1-2 years stage management/assistant stage management experience (Opera productions preferred)

  • Must have reliable transportation and able to travel to Miami Beach, Florida on a daily basis.

  • Must live or have housing in South Florida area.

  • Degree in theater, technical theater, vocal performance highly encouraged  

  • Basic knowledge of production equipment including light board operation, stage manager's console, technical theater, etc.    

  • Basic knowledge of theater safety procedures    

  • Ability to organize and adhere to complex schedules    

  • Knowledge of stage management paperwork   

  • Professional communication ability    

  • Ability and willingness to work long hours, week-nights and weekends  

  • Ability to follow a piano-vocal score     

  • Ability to organize and plan along with artistic/technical staff to generate quality staged works on a short timeline   

  • Must be able to handle the organizational and communication aspects of the position in a positive, professional, and timely manner. Above all, must have a positive attitude and be a team player

Compensation:
PAID INTERNSHIP – MMF offers a $250 per week stipend on top of fulfilling college credit requirements from most major universities.
