Vocal Collaborative Institute

Audition Requirements:

Vocal Colab Pianists should prepare two contrasting arias or selections from any of the following Operas. 

  • Mozart - Le nozze di Figaro

  • Mozart - Magic Flute

  • Mozart - Don Giovanni

  • Puccini - La Boheme


Vocal Collaborative Piano Institute

A select group of pianists will have the opportunity to participate in the Vocal Collaborative Piano Institute on full scholarship with housing. Pianists interested in gaining knowledge and experience in the operatic field as vocal coaches, accompanists, repetiteurs, assistant conductors and prompters will have the unique opportunity to study and work alongside leading professionals from the opera industry.


Highlights of the Vocal Collaborative Institute:

  • Gain experience as a repetiteur for mainstage opera productions, auditions and masterclasses under the guidance of festival conductors and head coaches.

  • Hands-on participation in seminars and masterclasses on topics including following a conductor, score reading, prompting, accompanying, playing for auditions, and more.

  • Classes on practical career strategies including auditions, resume building, university teaching and networking.

  • Instruction in languages and diction.

  • Coaching opportunities with MMF Opera Institute singers.


Fellowships

Up to 4 vocal collaborative pianists will be awarded fellowship positions in the MMF Opera Institute which includes a full-tuition scholarship and housing.

How to Apply

Applicants must be prepared to play from the repertoire listed below and may be asked to play live vocal auditions at sight. Students wishing to study in the collaborative program who are not awarded fellowship positions may still participate as a vocal collaborative participant (tuition and housing fees apply).

Collaborative pianists wishing to apply for positions for the Opera Institute should prepare:

  • two contrasting arias or selections from any of the following Operas

Mozart- Le nozze di Figaro
Mozart- Magic Flute
Mozart- Don Giovanni
Puccini- La Boheme

Pianists without experience in the opera field who wish to apply to the vocal collaborative program without a fellowship should prepare:

  • One solo work of your choice

Housing Fees (Non-Fellowship Positions)

Apprentice Program and Baroque Institute

  • Quad, 4 people per apartment. 2 people per room: $1,000.00

  • Double, 2 people per apartment, 1 person per room: $2,000.00

  • Entire Apartment: $4,000.00

* Additional tuition scholarships may be awarded for non-fellowship positions.

Tradewinds Apartment Hotel is directly across the street from Miami Music Festival’s rehearsal spaces and less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. Miami residents who choose to reside at home do not pay housing fees.
