Hansel and Gretel Opera at Faena Forum

Enter the magical world of the Grimm brother’s classic fairytale in MMF’s innovative immersive opera theater. Using 360-degree projection technology, MMF brings the story to life by immersing the audience in the scenes of the opera. Performed by singers from the MMF Opera Institute, enjoy the familiar musical retelling of mischievous young siblings, an enchanted forest, a witch with a house of candy, and the delightful characters who help Hansel and Gretel on their journey home.

What started as a chamber opera with a children’s libretto and an encouraged idea by the composer’s sister became an instant success, tutored by Wagner and championed by Strauss. Combining popular folk tunes from Humperdinck’s childhood with an endearing and lush score, MMF Opera Institute singers take us on a musical journey through a fanciful world in the harrowing fable of Hansel and Gretel.
