Vincent Penzarella, Trumpet

Trumpeter Vincent Penzarella is a native of Philadelphia and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. During that period of time he freelanced extensively.

Also, he played with The Lyric & Grand Opera of Philadelphia and with the world renowned Philadelphia Orchestra as a substitute.

Then he won a trumpet position with the Baltimore Symphony. During the summer, he performed as a principal trumpet with the North Carolina Symphony.

After 2 years of military service in the US Army, Mr. Penzarella continued his studies in Chicago with Arnold Jacobs, Adolph Herseth and Vincent Cichowicz.

Upon coming to NYC in 1963,Mr Penzarella studied with John Ware.
During this period, he freelanced on Broadway, Radio City and various recording dates as well as the New York City Opera and Ballet and the New York Philharmonic.

In 1969 to 1977, Mr. Penzarella won the audition for the Metropolitan Opera. In 1977, Mr. Penzarella won the audition for the New York Philharmonic, where he performed until retirement .

Mr. Penzarella has taughtinternationally , giving master classes and lectures
in countries such as Italy, China, Korea, Spain and Japan.

He coached the brass sections at the Miami Festival, CurtisInstitute Festival during the summer of 2016.

Presently, he continues to be a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music,  Mannes College of Music and NYU.
