Jamie Roberts, Oboe

Jamie Roberts, a Chicago native, joined the National Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Oboe in September 2011. Roberts holds a Master of Music in Oboe Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University, as well as a Professional Studies Certificate from the Colburn Conservatory. She has studied with John Ferrillo, Anne Marie Gabriele, Linda Strommen, and Allan Vogel.

Roberts was Principal Oboe of the Portland Opera Orchestra from 2007 to 2011, and has also performed with the Oregon Symphony and San Diego Symphony. She was Principal Oboe of the 2006 New York String Orchestra Seminar at Carnegie Hall. Roberts has spent her summers at festivals, including the Music Academy of the West and the Aspen Music Festival, and as faculty at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Miami Music Festival, and NSO's Summer Music Institute. She is currently on the faculty with the DC youth orchestra program and the NSO youth fellowship program.

Roberts regularly performs chamber music throughout the country with the Hubbard Quartet and is one of the founding members of LeDroit Chamber Players, a community chamber music organization based in Washington, D.C.
