Concert pianist Douglas Humpherys offers immense pedagogical experience and a rich performing resume in his first year with the MMF Piano Institute. He offers a program of diverse pianistic works, including Haydn’s Fantasia in C Major, H. XVII: 4, an impressive creation often referred to as “Capriccio,” a reverie on a German folk melody, and Mozart’s hauntingly expressive Adagio in B minor, K. 540, one of his later and lasting works. Since winning the Gold Medal at the first Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in 1976, he has taught at some of the most eminent classical music institutions around the world, and currently serves as Chair of the Piano Department at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
