Alessio Bax, Pianist
Saturday, June 10, 2017 @ 7 PM

Steinway Piano Gallery, Coral Gables

Coral Gables, FL 33146

Hailed as “one of the most remarkable young pianists before the public,” Italian pianist Alessio Bax joins the MMF Piano Institute as a visiting artist for the first time. Audiences will have the special opportunity to be transported by what the Dallas Morning News calls “an out-of-body experience,” in his playing. Bax will offer a program of works from the classical to modern era, including Mozart’s Six Variations on a theme from the Clarinet Quintet, KV. 581, KV Anh 137, Scriabin’s Sonata No. 3 in F-sharp minor, Op. 23, and Ravel’s La Valse, a ground-breaking tribute to the classical waltz, which evolves into a stunning breakdown of traditional form, finishing in a danse macabre. Between his busy performance schedule, Bax serves as the Johnson-Prothro Artists-in-Residence at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts.
